A GLIMPSE OF WHO I AM
I grew up on a farm dairy farm outside of Luana, Iowa, with my parents Terry and Julie, siblings Heidi, Branden, and Heather. We learned how to have fun, work hard, and enjoy life. I went to MFL MarMac where I participated in basketball and was lucky enough to make it to the state tournament my senior year. My PE teacher, Mr. Becker and my Grandma Norma Fiet, are who inspired me to be a PE teacher. PE was my favorite part of the school day because of the activities we did and how Mr. Becker made you feel important! My Grandma taught 5th grade at Waukon and years after retirement adults would still approach her and tell her she was their favorite teacher in school!
After high school I went to Wartburg College where I also played basketball, we were 3 time conference champs and made it to the Elite 8 my sophomore year. Those memories will last a lifetime along with the friendships I made with my teammates!
After college I got my first job as a varsity girls basketball coach at Valley Community School in Elgin, after a year of subbing I became a full time PE teacher at Valley! With the NFV merger I found myself at West Central Community School where I taught PE for 3 years and 2 years of special education, followed by one year teaching special education at Oelwein. I finally made it back to where it all started at NFV Valley Campus and am so happy to be here!
In my free time I love spending time with my family, cheering on the Hawks, being outdoors, and attempting big and small DIY projects!
